Voting & Judging Process
Voting for the 2017 Golden Backpack Awards has not yet opened.
There are 37 awards for companies recognised for their outstanding customer service in both state and national categories in the 2017 Golden Backpack Awards.
During a 10-week national campaign in TNT Magazine & TNT Downunder, online at www.tntmagazine.com and www.tntdownunder.com and via the various social media channels, backpackers vote for their favourite hostel, tour and tour/activity in every state and territory in Australia and across the Tasman.
The awards are consumer voted with a controlled verification process. As well as the consumer vote, to win a Golden Backpack Award the quality of application will be judged as well as a secret shopper review. In 2016 over 70,000 votes were received.
These are the key criteria for which your nomination will be judged –
1. Your application will be initially judged for quality of information. It’s worth putting some thought to your entry, to give it the best impact.
2. Consumer votes (all votes are verified to be unique and valid, and unverified votes will be removed from the totals)
3. Secret shopper reviews (each company will be verified via secret shopper reviews to validate their entry)
4. Company size and reach. To remain competitive and allow all companies regardless of size to have equal chances to win an award. We will factor in company size and potential customer reach to ensure there is a fair playing field for all nominees.
As the only National awards for the backpacker sector, The Golden Backpack Awards recognise tour operators, transport providers and car/campervan rental companies while the general category will see awards for best travel agent, destination, visitor attraction and indigenous experience.
Awards are also presented for innovation and outstanding achievement to the industry.
